Jitona Quality and Tradition

JITONA a.s. is a significant player on the European furniture market. It is the biggest Czech company making and exporting furniture, in particular bedroom furniture. The company makes:

  • Bedroom and living room furniture made of solid wood and genuine wood veneer
  • Furniture made of genuine wood veneer which can be disassembled

The company focuses mainly on export which represents 96% of its turnover. JITONA furniture is mostly exported to Germany, Great Britain, Austria and Denmark. The total turnover of the company is 1.2 billion CZK. JITONA a.s. employs 840 employees in three production plants. It is a one hundred percent owned Czech company with a long standing tradition.

JITONA a.s. continues in the tradition of the furniture making companies Tusculum Rousínov and Spojené umělecko průmyslové (UP) závody Brno which were founded in 1920. These predecessors had an extraordinary position on the market which can be demonstrated by the fact that in 1937 the UP plant was the biggest furniture company in Europe. The history of JITONA a.s. dates back to 1951 when minor furniture manufacturers from South Bohemia were united into a state owned company called “Jihočeské továrny nábytku” (South Bohemian Furniture Manufacturers) and continued in the centuries old traditions of furniture making in this region.

Currently, the production is concentrated in three plants. The Soběslav plant produces veneer tapes for the whole company and veneer and laminate products. The Klatovy plant is the most technologically advanced plant from the JITONA plants focusing on the mass production of veneer RTA (customer assembled) goods. And finally the Třebíč plant specialises in the production of furniture made from solid wood and part solid wood, making mostly bedroom furniture. For more information go to www.jitona.cz.
